The original Mussleman Coaster Brake was created in 1907 by A.J. Musselpman.  Mussleman also invented the airplane wheel and braking system.  Most Bikes sold by Sears from the early 1930s to the mid 1950s used Mussleman Hubs.  The internal parts for single speed Elgin, Mussleman and J.C. Higgins hubs are indentical.  Mussleman hubs were standard issue on Mercury, early Murray and early post-war Western Flyers.  Mussleman Hub-Brake Co. was eventually acquired by Murray Ohio.  Replacement Parts are difficult to locate.
